Christopher Lloyd: his life at Great Dixter

$25.00 inc GST

2010. 240x160mm, 240pp, with some central monochrome, historical monochrome, and colour photography, bound in original cloth hardcover with matte laminate pictorial dustjacket. A wonderful, tidy copy with only minor shelf-wear, sparse hints at the beginnings of foxing at the edges, and slight toning. Attractive copy overall.

This is the authorised (by Christo and the Dixter Trustees) and very lively biography of the man and his lifetime of gardening. Lloyd invited Anderton to write his biography, not realising he would die within a year. This is a wonderfully affectionate story, but Anderton pulls no punches: he had access to all Lloyd’s mother’s (Daisy) voluminous correspondence. Major read: very entertaining.
