Frederick Eden and his wife Caroline (Gertrude Jekyll’s older sister) bought this property in 1886. Mecca for cultural gatherings of English-speaking community in Venice.
1903. 245x185mm, 135 pp + 17 b/w plates of photos (incl frontispiece) with titled tissue guards, decorative paper covers drawn onto illustrated endpapers, tied with green silk thread through three holes near spine. Printed on handmade mould paper with deckled edges. The paper covers extend beyond the edges of the endpapers by up to one cm, and are quite fragile, so have creases and short tears in this extended area. Very pleasantly designed.
